All kinds of things can go wrong in the kitchen, but what do you do when the knob handle on your biggest pot lid falls off? I had used this lid, which fits on my largest pot as well as a large frying pan, for several decades.
I tried to fix it, but
the screw holding the knob to the lid had rusted and the thin layer of metal hiding the screw had simply worn away. What should I do? I’d never tried to buy a pot lid on its own.

Then I discovered Charles Viancin. He is a European designer who created a line
of floppy silicone lids in 5 sizes. I
bought his biggest —12 inches in diameter—for $12.95. It looks like a large red poppy and seems indestructible..
This lid is very versatile. Place it on a large pot or salad bowl, and it
provides a tight seal. Luckily the black knob handle on
the top can’t fall off because it’s part of the lid!
